Overview
About the stadium
The Estadio Centenario Ciudad de Quilmes is the home football ground of Quilmes Atlético Club, one of Argentina's oldest clubs, founded in 1887. Located in the city of Quilmes on the southern edge of Greater Buenos Aires, the stadium holds 30,200 spectators. It opened on 25 April 1995 and its name commemorates the club's centenary.
Home of the "Cerveceros"
The nickname of both the club and its supporters is "Cervecero" (brewer), a nod to the famous Cervecería Quilmes brewery that gave its name to the city and to Argentina's best-selling beer. Built on grass measuring 105 × 66 metres, the stadium was designed by architect Iván Urbán, a Quilmes supporter, and replaced the older Estadio Guido y Sarmiento.

History
Journey through time
The stadium's story is bound to the legacy of Quilmes Atlético Club, founded in 1887 and counted among the oldest football institutions in Argentina. Until the mid-1990s the club played at the old Estadio Guido y Sarmiento, which had served since 1898.
From centenary to a new name
The new ground was inaugurated on 25 April 1995, its name chosen to mark the club's 100th anniversary. It was originally known as Estadio Centenario "José Luis Meiszner" after a long-serving official. The stadium was refurbished and reopened in 1998. In 2016 the leadership decided to drop the Meiszner name after he was implicated in the 2015 FIFA corruption case; the club wanted the ground no longer associated with illicit acts. Since then it has carried the name Estadio Centenario Ciudad de Quilmes. As early as 30 June 1995, Argentina's national team won 2–0 against Australia here.
Atmosphere
Matchday
The atmosphere at the Estadio Centenario is among the most authentic that Argentine football has to offer. Supporters of Quilmes, who proudly embrace the "Cerveceros" nickname, create a loud and colourful backdrop in the club's white-and-blue colours throughout each match.
Passion of the southern suburbs
The club is rooted deep in the working-class community of Quilmes and its fans rank among the most loyal in the country. Drums, banners and relentless chanting from the terraces produce a true Argentine hinchada. Derbies and matches against fierce rivals are especially electric, when the stadium fills completely.
