Přehled
O stadionu
Hill Dickinson Stadium is a football stadium on the Bramley-Moore Dock waterfront in the Vauxhall district of Liverpool, England. With a capacity of 52,888 seats, it has been the home of Everton FC since the 2025/26 season, replacing Goodison Park, which the club had occupied since 1892. The stadium represents one of the most significant new football venues built in England in decades.
Location and surroundings
The stadium stands directly facing the River Mersey on the historic Bramley-Moore Dock in the northern dock estate. The site forms the centrepiece of a wider regeneration plan for this long-neglected northern waterfront district. From the stands, spectators enjoy sweeping panoramic views across the Mersey to the Wirral Peninsula and surrounding docklands. The stadium has become the architectural anchor of the broader Bramley-Moore regeneration project.
Main uses
The stadium serves as the home ground of Everton FC for Premier League fixtures, domestic cup ties and European competition. Its prominent waterfront setting also positions it as a candidate for major sporting events and cultural occasions. Everton moved here from Goodison Park, which was closed after more than 130 years of continuous use and is being preserved as a heritage site.
Historie
Cesta časem
The idea of a new stadium for Everton FC emerged in the early 2000s, when it became clear that Goodison Park -- opened in 1892 -- no longer met the demands of the modern Premier League era. The realisation of the project took more than two decades and passed through several crises.
Planning and early proposals
Everton investigated multiple sites: first Kirkby, then a scheme called Kings Dock within the central waterfront estate. Both fell through -- Kirkby was rejected in a 2008 ballot, while Kings Dock foundered on financial grounds. Attention finally turned in 2017 to Bramley-Moore Dock, which offered a cleared industrial site with a dramatic Mersey panorama and a backdrop of Victorian brick warehousing.
Construction and opening
The design was produced by architect Dan Meis, a US-based specialist in sports arenas, working with UK practice BDP. Planning permission was granted in 2021 following extensive public consultation. Construction commenced in 2021 and the stadium opened in 2025, initially under the name Everton Stadium. A naming-rights agreement with Liverpool-based law firm Hill Dickinson was announced in 2025, giving the ground its current title.
Notable milestones
Everton's departure from Goodison Park marked the end of one of English football's longest continuous ground tenancies -- 133 years at the same address. Goodison Park had hosted matches during the 1966 FIFA World Cup and is now being preserved. The move to Bramley-Moore Dock is a founding moment for the club comparable in scale to Everton's original departure from Anfield in 1892.
Atmosféra
Den zápasu
Hill Dickinson Stadium arrived in the Premier League as one of the most anticipated new football facilities in English sport for a generation. Everton supporters -- known as The Toffees -- brought with them a fan culture built over more than 130 years.
Fan culture
Everton have one of the most loyal and vocal supporter bases in England. Goodison Park was long regarded as one of the most intensely atmospheric grounds in the top flight, and the club's fans are known for their solidarity and ability to generate belief in the most testing moments of a season. The rivalry with Liverpool FC -- the Merseyside Derby -- is among the most charged in English football, and the prospect of hosting that fixture on Everton's new Mersey waterfront home adds a fresh geographical dimension to a contest already loaded with history.
Big matches
Since opening for the 2025/26 season, the stadium has hosted all of Everton's home Premier League fixtures. The Merseyside Derby against Liverpool FC now takes place in the closest geographical proximity to Anfield of any Everton home ground in the rivalry's history. The first season at the new stadium generated extensive media coverage worldwide as a milestone moment in English football.
