Přehled
O stadionu
Dnipro Arena is a football stadium in Dnipro (formerly Dnipropetrovsk), central Ukraine, opened in 2008. The stadium seats 31,003 spectators, all positions covered, and was constructed by German firm Hochtief on the site of the Soviet-era Metalurh Stadium, which had stood on the same ground since 1940. It served as the home ground of FC Dnipro, one of the most successful clubs in post-Soviet Ukrainian football; the club's successor today is SC Dnipro-1.
Location and surroundings
The stadium stands in the centre of Dnipro, Ukraine's third-largest city, on the right bank of the Dnipro River. Its central location makes it accessible by public transport and on foot from the wider city centre. The surrounding neighbourhood reflects the city's industrial heritage -- Dnipro was historically one of the most important heavy-industry centres of the Soviet Union.
Current status
Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, stadium operations are significantly affected. Dnipro is situated well away from active front lines, but martial law and safety restrictions impact the organisation of public events nationwide. SC Dnipro-1 continues to play home fixtures in an available format; up-to-date information is available on the club's official website.
Historie

Soviet origins: Metalurh Stadium and early FC Dnipro
The Metalurh Stadium occupied the site of the present arena from 1940, serving the football community of Soviet-era Dnipropetrovsk through the entirety of the Soviet period. FC Dnipro itself played the majority of its home fixtures from 1966 onwards at the nearby Meteor Stadium rather than at Metalurh, but the old ground remained part of the city's sporting fabric until its demolition to make way for the new development.
Construction of the modern arena
The decision to build a modern UEFA-standard stadium was made in the early 2000s. The project was entrusted to German construction firm Hochtief, experienced in delivering large-scale European sports venues. Work was completed by the mid-2000s and the arena opened in 2008 with a certified capacity of 31,003 seats, all of them covered. The new facility replaced the original Metalurh site and became FC Dnipro's new home.
FC Dnipro's era and European football
FC Dnipro were twice Soviet league champions (1983, 1988) and twice Soviet Cup winners before Ukrainian independence. At Dnipro Arena they competed in the Ukrainian Premier League and reached European competition on multiple occasions. Their finest European hour came in the 2015 UEFA Europa League Final in Warsaw, where they were narrowly beaten 2:3 by Sevilla. Financial difficulties subsequently led to the club's collapse; SC Dnipro-1 was registered in 2019 as the successor club and continues in the top flight of Ukrainian football.
Wartime impact and the present day
Since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, football across Ukraine has operated under significant restrictions. Dnipro has not been directly affected by front-line fighting, but wartime conditions and air-raid alerts shape the daily operation of all public infrastructure, including the stadium. The physical facility remains intact, and its full use depends on the development of the conflict.

FC Dnipro's supporter culture
FC Dnipro built a substantial and passionate supporter base rooted in the industrial, working-class character of Dnipropetrovsk. The club's ultras groups -- most notably Dnipro Ultras -- occupied the south end of the stadium and were known for energetic choreography, consistent vocal support, and a pride in representing a city defined by heavy industry rather than political power. Supporting Dnipro was always understood as a local, authentic identity, distinct from the oligarch-backed clubs that dominated Ukrainian football.
Europa League nights and the 2015 final
The most celebrated chapter in Dnipro Arena's history came through FC Dnipro's run to the 2015 UEFA Europa League Final in Warsaw. Home legs in European competition filled the stadium with supporters who took genuine pride in the achievement of a relatively modest club against major continental opposition. The atmosphere on those evenings -- warm, vocal, and deeply committed -- reflected a city unified behind its team during a period of genuine European ambition.
Continuity through SC Dnipro-1
The founding of SC Dnipro-1 in 2019 gave loyal supporters a vehicle to preserve continuity with the historical FC Dnipro. Although the new club began in the lower divisions, it climbed back to the Ukrainian Premier League and has maintained the supporter traditions of its predecessor. Veterans of the FC Dnipro era have been joined by a new generation of fans at the stadium, ensuring that the city's football identity endures.

Current situation and safety
As a result of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine (from February 2022), martial law applies across Ukraine. Most foreign governments, including the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have issued travel advisories against non-essential travel to Ukraine. Dnipro is situated in central Ukraine, well away from active front lines, but nationwide air-raid alerts and wartime restrictions apply throughout the country.
For current information on SC Dnipro-1 fixtures, match venues, and ticketing, consult the club's official website and social media channels.
