Overview
About the stadium
Camp Nou is the home stadium of FC Barcelona in the Catalan capital. Opened in September 1957, it long held the title of the largest stadium in Europe, with a capacity of over 99,000 spectators. In 2023, extensive renovations began aimed at increasing the capacity to 105,000 and modernizing the stadium.
History
Journey through time
Opening 1957
Construction began in March 1954, and it was inaugurated on September 24, 1957, with a match against Warsaw. The architects Francesc Mitjans, Josep Soteras, and Lorenzo García Barbón designed the stadium in a late modernism style.
Cruyff Era and the Dream Team
In the 1990s, Johan Cruyff built the famous Dream Team here, leading Barcelona to its first European Cup in 1992.
Mès que un club
The club's motto "More than a club" is embodied right here — the stadium is a symbol of Catalan identity.

Atmosphere
Matchday
The atmosphere during El Clásico against Real Madrid is among the most intense in European football. Boixos Nois (the north stand) and Penya Almogàvers are traditional ultras groups. The anthem "El Cant del Barça" plays before every match, and fans sing it while standing.
