Overview
About the stadium
Allianz Parque is a modern multi-purpose arena in São Paulo and the home ground of Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, one of the most successful football clubs in Brazil. It stands in the Água Branca / Perdizes area of the Barra Funda district and, since opening in 2014, has been one of the most advanced sports and concert venues in Latin America.
A new-generation arena
The stadium holds 43,713 spectators for football matches and up to 55,000 for concerts. It was built and is operated by WTorre, which embraced a true multi-use model: alongside football it hosts major music tours, spectacles and international events. Steep stands, glass façades and modern facilities create an intimate, deafening atmosphere. Allianz Parque rises on the site of the legendary old Estádio Palestra Itália, linking the club's heritage with present-day comfort. For Palmeiras it has become a symbol of the club's return to the top of both Brazilian and continental football.
History
Journey through time
The story of this site dates back to the original Estádio Palestra Itália, which stood here from 1933 and was the heart of Palmeiras for decades. By the turn of the millennium, however, the old ground no longer met the demands of the modern game.
From Palestra Itália to Allianz Parque
The old stadium was demolished, and between 2010 and 2014 developer WTorre built an entirely new arena on the spot. Allianz Parque was officially inaugurated on 19 November 2014. The new home launched Palmeiras' golden era: in the following years the club won Brazilian Série A titles, domestic cups and, above all, the Copa Libertadores (2020 and 2021), echoing its historic 1999 triumph. Modern facilities brought higher revenue and a stable base for an elite squad. What was once a place of memory thus became one of the most feared fortresses in South American club football.
Atmosphere
Matchday
The atmosphere at Allianz Parque is among the most intense in Brazil. The stands turn green and white, and fans proudly carry the nickname "Porco" (the Pig), the enduring symbol of Palmeiras.
Mancha Verde and the big derbies
The roaring backdrop is led by the organised torcida Mancha Verde and other supporter groups, who sing, wave flags and unfurl giant tifos throughout the match. The high point of the season comes with the city derbies against Corinthians, São Paulo and Santos — clashes brimming with passion, rivalry and noise. Steep stands set close to the pitch amplify every chant. Beyond football, Allianz Parque is one of Brazil's premier concert venues, hosting world-class artists. Whether it is a decisive Libertadores night or a sold-out show, the arena reliably delivers an unforgettable experience.
