Přehled
O stadionu
Adrar Stadium (Arabic: ملعب أدرار) is a modern football stadium in Agadir on the south-western Atlantic coast of Morocco. With a capacity of 45,480 seats, it is one of the largest venues in the country and the home ground of Hassania Agadir, one of Morocco's most decorated football clubs. The stadium takes its name from the Adrar mountain range whose ridge is visible on clear days from the upper tiers.
Location and surroundings
The arena is situated in the northern part of Agadir, close to the N1 national highway linking the city with Casablanca. The surrounding area is modern and well connected -- Agadir--Al Massira International Airport lies roughly 25 km from the city centre. Agadir itself is the largest tourist city in southern Morocco, offering a year-round mild climate, wide Atlantic beaches and a well-developed hospitality infrastructure. Views from the upper stands take in the Anti-Atlas mountains on the horizon to the east.
Main uses
The stadium serves primarily as the home ground of Hassania Agadir in Botola Pro, Morocco's top-flight football league. It also hosts Morocco national team fixtures, friendly internationals and cup competitions. The ground was a venue for the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup, staging several group-stage matches, and is regularly used for major international sporting events.
Historie
Cesta časem
Adrar Stadium was built as part of Morocco's broad investment in modern sports infrastructure during the first decade of the 21st century. The Moroccan government entrusted the design to Italian architect Vittorio Gregotti of Gregotti Associati International, the studio behind numerous European stadiums. Construction commenced around 2010 and the stadium opened in 2013, just in time for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Construction and opening
The pace of construction was shaped by the deadline of the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup -- Morocco had secured hosting rights and Agadir was selected alongside Marrakech as a venue city. Gregotti's design features an elegant curved roof profile and a light-coloured facade that echoes the architectural palette of southern Morocco. The stadium was inaugurated in December 2013 and immediately hosted top-level international football.
Major renovations
Since its opening the stadium has undergone incremental technical upgrades, including lighting system improvements, pitch upgrades and facility enhancements for media and players. More substantial work linked to Morocco's preparations for hosting World Cup 2030 (co-hosted with Spain and Portugal) and potential future AFCON fixtures will bring the ground fully in line with the latest FIFA and CAF requirements.
Notable moments
The defining chapter in the stadium's history remains the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup. Top clubs competed here, most notably Bayern Munich -- that year's UEFA Champions League winners -- and Raja Casablanca representing Africa and Morocco. Bayern ultimately won the final 2:0 against Raja at Marrakech, but the group-stage matches held in Agadir were among the tournament's most vivid encounters. The stadium has also witnessed Hassania Agadir's title-winning campaigns in Botola Pro, cementing its status as the spiritual heart of football in the Souss region.
Atmosféra
Den zápasu
Football culture in Agadir is inseparable from the story of Hassania Agadir, a club that has collected Moroccan league titles and cup trophies since the 1960s. The club's green and yellow colours flood the stands at every home game, and the supporters' end is among the most energetic in Moroccan football.
Fan culture
Hassania's main ultras group, the Green Boys, is one of the best-organised supporter factions in Botola Pro. They orchestrate tifo displays, rhythmic chants and drumming sessions that embody North African football culture at its most vivid. As Agadir is a major tourist city, home matches regularly attract a mix of local fans and European or international visitors -- an international flavour that sets the ground apart from many Moroccan venues. Derbies against Casablanca clubs, particularly Wydad and Raja, generate the most intense atmosphere of the domestic season.
Big matches
The undisputed high point was the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup group stage, when the stadium hosted matches featuring Bayern Munich and other global powers. Moroccan supporters passionately backed local representative Raja Casablanca and the ground was electric with national pride. Hassania Agadir's own Botola Pro title celebrations and domestic cup victories have also created lasting memories among the club's loyal fanbase.
